Solo Dog Hikes

Solo hikes are the ultimate custom dog walking option! Book time with just me and your dog, or choose to go “semi-solo” and bring a canine friend.

Not all dogs are a good fit for a social walk, and that's fine! I can still provide fantastic mental and physical stimulation and drop your dog off happy and tired after a solo walk.

Solo dog walks can be great for dogs with specific triggers, such as a fear of motorized trail vehicles, and for older dogs who are simply getting on in years. Solo walks also ensure your dog is kept away from other dogs who want to wrestle or play.

"Solo" doesn't necessarily mean alone! I can bring my dog along for the walk, we can invite a canine friend of your dog, or we can stick to 1-on-1 depending on what's best for you.

Depending on your dog we can choose to head to a local off-leash dog park, or just keep the leash on and do a neighbourhood walk to suit your pup’s comfort level. And for dogs who need to be kept away from specific environments, like cliffs or ponds, I can tailor our location accordingly.

Who Are Solo Hikes For?

My clients often book solo hikes if their dog has issues around other dogs, or has a history of reactivity towards fellow canines. But solo hikes are also great for...

Fussy travelers

Some dogs travel better than others: especially when sharing a car with other dogs they don't know well. Solo hikes are perfect if your dog gets upset when travelling with other dogs in the vehicle.

Young pups

Some dogs are still learning their way around the world, and aren't ready for social hikes yet. Solo hikes help young and still growing dogs enjoy the great outdoors with a little less pressure.

Rescue dogs

Newly adopted rescue pets who are still acclimatizing to their new homes, humans, and surroundings have a lot of things going on already. Solo hikes allow me to focus on their needs without overwhelming.

Medical cases

Some dogs have a specific medical condition that requires close observation. Whether it's a fresh issue or an ongoing one, solo hikes ensure your dog is my only priority and has my complete attention.

Senior dogs

While I do group my social hikes based around similar ages and adventure levels, some older dogs really need to move along at their own pace. Solo hikes allow us to go exactly the speed your dog prefers.

Trigger-prone dogs

Dogs that have specific triggers are a great candidate for a solo hike. As the only member of the group, we can pick locations specifically to avoid situations, sounds, or smells that may cause an unwanted reaction.
